These tiny tuna are here a few weeks early in South East North Carolina. I had a feeling they would be with the Bonito also showing up earlier this spring. Although these False Albacore arent very table worthy, they are one of the best species of fish to hook into with light tackle!

The redfish bite continues to be good. Some days are better than others due to weather etc. Topwater in the early morning or cloudy days have produced a lot of fish. Live bait on windy or hotter days also has proved to be excellent. We have been seeing a lot of bigger trout mixed in as well.

Redfish are on the flats, sight casting to fish pushing bait has done really well. Also blind casting oyster bars and grass points have proved to be a consistent bite on topwater. Also been seeing a lot of shallow water sharks cruising looking for an easy meal.

This june has been a very strange bite. Redfish aren't exactly doing what they should be doing, so we've switched gears a little and started targeting some bridge monsters! The black drum and sheepshead bite have been amazing. They have both been feeding on fiddler crabs on deep structures using bottom sweeper jigs and carolina rigs.

Slring Atlantic Bonito is on fire right now! All fish have been caught throwing casting jigs at schools, pushing bait to the surface. These fish are grade A eating and one of the most fun fish to catch on light tackle.
