We embarked on the 5 hour morning trip with Rodney. We are not expert fishermen but Rodney was there with all of the lessons and tips. He worked really hard to get us set up and multiple lines in the water. His instruction was clear and we successfully reeled in multiple fish. Some would consider this trip to be low on catches and bites but that was no fault to Rodney or southern summers. It was very hot out when we went and the water was very warm. We learned the fish tend to be slow during times like these in the heat of summer. If you are looking to do a drip do some research on the best times to go.  He was also very patient with the fact we were very novice fishermen. We had a great time and already agreed that the next time we come back we will definitely be booking with Rodney and southern summers.

Overall great experience!!! I booked this charter for a family vacation. We have 3 young boys (8,6,5) and I was anxious about a crusty old captain not having patience for my kids and me being stuck on an old fishing boat for 3 hours. I was pleasantly surprised to have been greeted by a very clean, very new boat and non crusty captain. Rodney was so patient and kind with the boys. They love fishing so their exuberant nature can sometimes be taxing. Not only did I (the mom) have a good time, but I wished we had longer to stay on the boat and fish and explore the waters. Rodney knew the best places to go and even took the boys to a little island where they could dip in the water and catch hermit crabs. 10/10 experience. We will be booking with him again when we come back to HHI

Our trip with the Captain Summers was fantastic! From the moment we stepped aboard, it was clear he was highly experienced and prioritized safety, which gave us great peace of mind, especially with kids on board. He had an uncanny knack for knowing exactly where the fish were biting and what to anticipate throughout the trip. All the equipment was well-maintained and ready to go, making for a seamless experience.

Beyond his expertise, the Captain was incredibly friendly, and we had a blast reeling in fish! He generously shared his knowledge about the river system, turning the trip into an educational adventure for the kids—they learned so much more than just fishing techniques.

We had an amazing day on the water with Captain Rodney. From the moment we boarded his beautiful boat we could tell it was going to be a fun day and the entire trip (5 hours) was a blast.

Captain Rodney was great with our kids - keeping them involved and allowing them to wrestle in the fish with his patient and friendly guidance. They both caught the biggest fish of their lives and will be talking about it for years.

We all picked up some new fishing knowledge (which is the goal) and caught a bunch of impressive fish during a memorable day out. We will definitely be back for another trip in the future. Hands down the best fishing charter we’ve ever been on.

Captain Rodney was a fantastic guide. He was friendly and courteous. Our day started with bottom fishing for some redfish with the outgoing tide. Then we snuck into a creek and pulled several small reds, a keeper flounder for dinner and another small flounder using popping corks. With about 2 hours left we decided to go for a tarpon. It was the highlight of the trip. Those fish fight!!! We had an amazing trip!
