Background
I have been fishing off of the California and Mexican coast for over 30 years. We are so lucky to have one of the healthiest fisheries in the world. At any time tuna upwards of 300 lbs can show up 15 miles from home. Yellowtail and Mahi continue to arrive in our waters starting in April and staying until November. As a proud fisherman and charter boat owner, I am fortunate enough to earn a living doing something I love. I will always go the extra mile for my clients. I hope you come and join me. Techniques
We will always have live sardines or anchovies on our trips. Depending on the time of year and what fish are around, there are many methods we may use. For big bluefin tuna I enjoy flying a balloon with a flying fish. When we are offshore and paddy hoping, fly line sardines and throwing iron tend to get it done. While fishing the Coronado Islands for yellowtail and tuna we have had huge success slow trolling live sardines...

The rock fishing is definitely good right now. We are seeing a few yellowtail and the water just warmed up to 70ยฐ so things should start heating up for our Southern California fishing. Half-day trips off La Jolla are perfect. Close to home and four hours of fishing time.

Guys, the kelps down south are starting hold yellowtail as are the Coronado Islands which I highly suggest. There is a $41 surcharge per passenger for a mandatory Mexico Visa per person. Passports are mandatory for the Coronado's as well. No visa or Passport is required 12 miles outside of the Coronado Islands and Mexican coastline. Water is 68 degrees. Lets go....
