Captain
Harold Gravatt

Member since March 2022 Sault Ste. Marie, United States
Background
Captain Harold had participated and competed in the Kalamazoo, Michigan D&R Sports Center Bass fishing circuit in his early 20s. After coming to Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, the captain found himself hunting waters in the St. Mary's River system for Walleye. This species captured his attention with its interesting feeding patterns. After making many trips and learning new techniques, observing and recognizing variable weather patterns, Captain Harold soon entered the St. Mary's Walleye Club to fish competitively. After earning a bid to the Cabela's Bass Pro National Team Championship that consisted of competing with 247 teams, the captain was inspired to pursue more tournaments on a national level.
Techniques
Fishing Bass species consists of casting and using variable presentations both fast and slow. Fishing for Walleye consists of multiple presentations, both casting and trolling planer boards. Initially, Captain Harold managed to land a volume of Walleye trolling planer boards. However, he soon realized that variable weather patterns can change your presentation. Calm flat wind and clear water conditions can cause the planer boards to spook Walleye. The captain soon learned to use the jigging technique for better presentation and giving your bait a little more action to land a larger volume and better sizes by targeting suspended Walleye using the Garmin Panoptix Livescope.
