Although the boat was an older model and bathroom Iin need of a little love, we had a fantastic time out on the Ocean with Captain Raphael and first mate Miguel. 

3 hours into our trip with little action and then suddenly…a real thrill.  Fish on.  Super excitement on the boat. Large fish on the line.  My boys reeling as hard as they could and the fish fighting back.  After about 10 minutes, we see the fish bybthe side of the boat.  A 80lbs White Marlin.    What a great trip.  Great experience with my boys and father I law.   

And then to end it off, we catch a 6 or 7lbs Barracuda for added fun.

Captain Manuel and deck hand Javi were awesome. We were after the Big Marlin and just missed getting one in the boat. Was no fault of either of the guys just how it goes at times fishing. We did catch some Mahi and barracuda. Chef Javi made sure we ate well on the boat. Would recommend as they did all they could to get us on the fish.

It was a great crew but when we got back and they explained to me something about laws and regulations stating.i couldn’t keep my 3 mahi mahi (i explained i am in an airbnb so they allowed me to keep the smaller of the three fish), if i had known i couldn’t keep my catch i probably wouldn’t have spent the money to go fishing At least I got photos of my catch.

Alex our captain was friendly. The sea is rough in punta cana and we got caught in some rain storms but that’s just the elements here so no complaints there. We only went to one spot and caught a couple but then just kept loosing bait from small reef fish. Could have switched spots or techniques or something. But when we were set to go back the battery on the boat was dead and we were stranded for two hours out there so that was a little rough. Our captain didn’t have service so we were lucky to have and he was able to call a friend for help. But obvi that sucked. There were drinks on the boat and the small amount of gear I saw was in decent shape. I just wanted to bring my gf to catch some small fish but this turned into something longer. Wouldn’t suggest to real anglers and this is just my take on it, I doubt the battery is a constant issue but ....

Had a party of 5. We were picked up from the resort by a driver who identified me by name which was reassuring. The driver transported us to the beach and walked us to another gentlemen who advised we needed to pay him for the charter. I was under the impression that I needed to pay the captain but I paid the man as requested due to him knowing the amount owed. From that point we were escorted to another gentlemen who operated the smaller boat that transported us to the Alajondra boat. Waves in the Dominican seem to be aggressive and no life jackets were seen or offered which was concerning. Once at the larger boat we had to climb over the top of the side of the boat. No stairs available for ease of access. The boat was older than expected. From there we went out 10 miles trolling with no bait changes for the duration of the trip. We got no bites and no fish. All we got was an expensive boat ride.
