I grew up in South Florida and my father was a FWC (Florifa Wildlife Commition) officer down here for 36 years. He taught me the love of the outdoors and conservation for our fragile ecosystem. From that, my love for being on the water evolved into teaching and showing other people that don't have the privilege to experience our ecosystem that we have to offer.

    Awesome fishing charter!

    Half Day Trip (AM)2 adults

My husband and I had an amazing time fishing with Captain Derek on our 4-hour charter! We caught plenty of fish and even brought home some great fillets. It was such a fun and unique way to experience the Everglades—we highly recommend it. Captain Derek was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire trip easy and enjoyable. He knew exactly where to go and was great about helping us every step of the way. We’ll definitely be back and hope to book a full-day trip next time!

Five-Star Day on the Water with Reel Deal Fishing!

    Half Day Trip (AM)2 adults

If you’re looking for the ultimate day on the water, you absolutely have to book a trip with Reel Deal Fishing. Our guide, Derek, was nothing short of fantastic from start to finish. His boat is truly top-of-the-line and kept in pristine condition, and it was clear right away that safety is his number one priority. Derek’s knowledge of the water is incredible; he navigated us straight to the best spots and shared expert fishing tips that made a huge difference in our success. We ended up catching a ton of fish, which we got to take home for an amazing fresh-caught dinner! What really set this trip apart, though, was Derek’s hospitality. He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind, making us feel more like friends he was showing around his favorite local haunts rather than just clients. He is a world-class host who genuinely cares about your experience; you could tell he was having just as much fun as we were simply by seeing us have a great time. We cannot recommend booking with him enough! It was the highlight of our trip and a true "reel deal" experience!

    Derek was awesome!

    Half Day Trip (AM)2 adults

Derek came in clutch as our previous booking had to make a cancellation and a such we were looking for a last minute replacement. Derek took the time to talk to us on the phone to get a feel for what we were looking for on the water, and went above and beyond. We ended up getting slammed with fish of all sorts of species and even caught a shark! Derek was also very friendly and we chatted it up the whole time. An easy 10/10 recommendation for anyone looking for a great day out on the water!

    Awesome morning catching fish!

    Half Day Trip (AM)1 adult

Captain Derek put me on fish quickly! We caught numerous Sea Trout, Jacks, Mangrove Snappers, and Lemon Sharks. Unfortunately, I lost a couple of snooks and snappers, but that’s on me, as he knows where the fish are located! He is a knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly guide. His boat is new (12/5/25), and his fishing gear/bait was right sized for our trip. Most importantly, he’s a good communicator- tell him what you want to fish for, and he’ll set you up for a great day! Fun morning!

Derek was a great guide. I was early to the meeting spot and he was there waiting!! I normally bring my own equipment but upon inspection Derek’s equipment was excellent so I just left mine in the car. We caught several species of fish at most of the stops we made throughout the day.

Everglades National Park Slay Day

May 2, 2026 • Key Largo
We headed out early for a morning half day fishing charter in Everglades National Park, and conditions were excellent — Sunny with about 15mph winds. The Mangrove Snapper bite was absolutely dialed in, with consistent action throughout the day. Spotted Seatrout have also been around we were able to catch several nice ones for dinner. We sent some quality Mangrove Snapper and Spotted Sea trout home for a fresh Florida Keys dinner, while the rest were carefully released to fight another day. The trips showstopper was the long fight on a 40lb Goliath grouper with light tackle back in the mangroves it can prove to be a tough battle. Overall, it was a fantastic half day Everglades National Park fishing charter — great weather, steady action, and plenty of smiles back at the dock. If you're looking to experience backcountry fishing in the Florida Keys, conditions are shaping up nicely summer is around the corner which is my favorite time of year to fish.

Inshore Bite & Mixed Species Action

Mar 2, 2026 • Key Largo
This weekend’s trips produced excellent action across the Florida Keys, with steady bites and a great variety of species coming over the rails. On our Florida Keys fishing charters, anglers enjoyed productive conditions and nonstop opportunities throughout the day. We put together a solid dinner catch of mangrove snapper, landing a bunch of nice-sized mangrove snappers that were perfect for the table. The snapper bite stayed consistent, making for a fun and rewarding inshore fishing trip. The highlight of the weekend was an absolute beast — a giant jack crevalle that took nearly 20 minutes to land, putting both angler and tackle to the test. These powerful fish are known for their strength, and this one did not disappoint. Adding to the excitement, we also landed a flounder, which is a rare catch in the Florida Keys and always a cool surprise on a guided fishing charter. Along with that, we caught several miscellaneous species, keeping rods bent and action steady throughout the trip. Overall, it was another successful weekend of Florida Keys fishing, with great variety, memorable fights, and plenty of fresh fish headed home. Conditions are shaping up nicely, and we’re looking forward to more productive Florida Keys fishing trips in the coming days.

Winter fishing

Jan 9, 2026 • Key Largo
Fishing has been pretty strong on the shallow reefs with a wide variety of snapper and grouper lately. Some wahoo and sailfish have been showing up with the cooler weather. Fishing should continue to get better during the tempature drops. Plenty of opportunities to have a fun day on the water

Action packed days on the water

Dec 29, 2025 • Key Largo
The bite has been hot lately with plenty of action and great variety. We’ve been getting into big schools of jack crevalle, providing nonstop excitement, hard runs, and plenty of drag-screaming fights to keep rods bent all trip long. For those looking to take something home for dinner, the mangrove snapper bite has been steady with quality fish that have been perfect for the table. Even better, there have been some larger snook showing up in the mix. We’ve seen some impressive fish cruising around and feeding, giving us some incredible opportunities at trophy-class catches. With good water, steady bait, and strong tides, conditions have been lining up great and the fish have been responding. Overall, it’s been a great time to get out on the water—plenty of action, great variety, and chances at some truly memorable fish.

Late Summer Fishing is Underrated

Aug 8, 2025 • Key Largo
The redfish have been schooling up recently making the best time of year to target redfish while sight fishing. I have been seeing schools of up to 20+ fish cruising in inches of water making for a show. I have also seen and caught more 30+ inch redfish these past few months than I have going back years. The snook fishing bite early in the morning has been hot fishing small troughs stacked with fish. You might have to weed through some 24" fish to find the real big ones, but they still pull plenty hard. I've also been seeing some big tarpon cruising the shallows with their back out of the water feeding on mullet. This is one of my favorite times of year to fish because the weather is usually nice and all the species are active making it a great time of year to target a backcountry slam.

Inshore bite is hot!

Mar 1, 2025 • Key Largo
Cooler morning temperatures are turning the bite on. The past few weeks fishing has been great with 3 backcountry slams caught in a day the redfish, snook, and trout are eating. Snook season just opened up so this weekends purpose was to bring home fresh snook and that we did along with a lot of other bycatch. The redfish seemed to be everywhere with a quadruple hookup to end the day with only 3 people onboard made for a great end of the trip.
