Captain Brian grew up inland but started making trips to the Outer Banks back in the 80s and soon developed an interest in fishing and all sorts of marine life, especially seabirds. This led to working as a deckhand on a variety of vessels for over a decade. He feels fortunate to work with some of the best captains in the area as a mate. In 2005, the captain purchased his first charter boat and just a year later he was able to upgrade to his current vessel. The Stormy Petrel II has served the company's needs well for over 15 years now, and the crew looks forward to seeing you aboard.

    Great early season trip!

    We had a fantastic experience fishing out of Hatteras aboard the Stormy Petrel II with Capt. Brian and first mate Danny. They did an incredible job taking care of our large group and made the whole trip smooth, fun, and stress-free. The boat itself was sturdy, clean, and very well maintained — we felt comfortable the entire time. Even being early in the season, they put us right on the fish. We caught plenty of bluefish and had a blast doing it! Danny was great about helping everyone out, keeping lines in the water, and making sure we were all having a good time. You can really tell they know what they’re doing and take pride in giving people a great experience. Highly recommend — we’d absolutely book with them again!

    Late summer months are always hard fishing. Captain Brian and 1st mate Danny worked hard to keep us on fish. The first two gours the bite was crazy. Fish after fish on the lines. Last two hours as the sun got higher and the tempature rose the bite slowed way down but we still caught some fish. We ended up with 19 Spanish Mackerols. It was a fun morning on the water.

    We had an amazing experience! We caught lots of fish, and the captain was friendly, patient, and made sure everyone had a great time. The whole family loved it, especially the kids—they haven’t stopped talking about the trip since! We highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a fun and memorable fishing adventure.

What's biting with Stormy Petrel II in Nags Head

The weather's cooling, but inshore fishing is rock solid. Red and Black Drum, Trout, and Spanish Mackerel can all be caught on a half day trip. Otherwise, stay out all day to battle Billfish offshore.

Great Blackfin Tuna bite today

Dolphin fishing was slow for us so we shifted gears and went tuna fishing. Our party was onto it and we ended up with a nice catch.

Excellent Bottom Fishing Offshore

We spent the 4th fishing about 25 miles offshore, and Matt and his party did a great job catching a near limit of triggerfish. We also caught a nice Mahi mahi with a tiny mahi in its stomach!
