This day started out with a 3-4 pounder on the first cast. Of course I thought it was game on! Nope. Things got real quiet for about an hour and the fishing guide pucker was on. We literally caught one fish at every stop then nothing. Well that's fishing,the worst phrase to a guide ever. Around 11 o'clock someone rang the dinner bell starting with an 11 that put on a show batting a 10 inch shiner in the air before pounding it. We wound up doing well with an additional 9 and one young ladies first fish ever. That's one of my biggest joys. Water temp is currently 63.5. There's quite a bit of vegetation floating around that can block some good spots but, that changes with the wind direction. Fishing only gets better from here through winter as far as your best chance for double digit fish.

I got to guide Miss Lucy on her first fishing trip and her first fish. She lasted 2 whole hours and reeled in all the fish herself. What a special day. What a rewarding profession. I enjoy taking the little folks out on the water, especially when the grown ups understand the day isn't about them. Proud Dad Dave called it once she seemed to be losing interest to keep the memory and experience fun.

This was a day almost canceled due to wind ,rain, and cold temps predicted but, we decided to chance it. Great pay off. This was the first time fishing in Florida for these Colorado boys and now they know what bass fishing is about. Water temps are around 70 now and the bellies are growing on the big girls moving into prespawn. I lost count of the number caught but, the top dog was a 9 and at 13, that PB will stand for I while I reckon....or maybe not. This is a special place full of BIG BASS. Book trips now as dates fill quick here through Easter.

Central Florida bass fishing is heating up as temps cool down. Fished 20mph winds on the start of a cold front. The bite was on from start to finish. I lost count on on numbers. Sometimes it's not just about the monsters. Solid day of 2-4/5 pounders. Good to see a lot of swelling bellies.

I had the pleasure of taking this family out on Rodman Reservoir. Fishing is heating up as water temps are going down. It was 79 degrees Friday Oct. 6 and with the cold front moving in it should drop more. We started the morning in heavy fog with a steady bite for the first 21/2 hrs of a 4 hour trip then everything went into lockjaw syndrome. Best fish of the day was a solid 6lbs. Plan ahead for dates because bait always gets hard to reserve as anglers flock to Central Florida throughout the peak winter months.

Scallop season in Steinhatchee is in full swing. Depending on tide and timing groups are bringing in limits. I feel the best time to get out is in the morning especially on a high tide. The scallops come in with the tide. Also consider it like a garage sale, you want to get after them before everything is picked over! Enjoy this special time of year.
