4 Hr Elite Live Bait Striper • 2 adultsWe were early and so was our guide. We arrived at first stop in a few minutes and in less than 5 minutes we're getting strikes. We had been brought to a school of strikers and hybrids by our guide. My brother and I were catching 3 - 5 lb. fish so fast that the Captain could hardly keep our hooks baited for us. He was instructive and patient in explaining the reels and how to set the fishing depth on them. He removed fish from hooks, inquired if we wanted a photo, released or saved fish, based on our preference, and then added new baits to our hooks. When we had our limit of keepers, we moved on to a new spot. We then fished for catfish. After having caught at least a dozen stripers, I took a break for a few minutes while my brother started us at catching again. After watching him pull in a skinny gar with a laugh, I joined him in a new method that our guide also took time to explain. Our Captain again baited our hooks and cast our baits for us and watched our methods as we fished, giving us helpful tips on being patient when we saw a nibble and when to set the hook and when to lock the reel for drag before setting a hook. We spent the rest of our trip in 2 or 3 areas just catching all kinds and sizes of catfish and a small largemouth bass and a hybrid, too. My brother caught the most and the largest cat, maybe a 10 or 12 pounder which he released. It was good weather till the end when we spotted rain in the distance.I foolishly asked for 5 more minutes and that was about the time it hit! LOL. What a change. We suddenly lost the desire to fish, packed equipment to travel and headed home. Arriving on the boat ramp with a cooler full of fish unable to close, soaked to the skin beneath our clothes, but smiling and laughing the whole time. It was the best fishing my brother and I have ever had together! We plan to return next summer for more! Thanks, Captain Brian!!!

Immediately you can tell her is focused on the comfort and enjoyment of his trip. Willing to teach and a great teacher as well. The boat was very managed, clean and gear was super nice. We in fact did catch a lot of fish yet even if we didn’t the experience alone was super worth while. I cannot recommend this trip enough to anybody interested. This really was the best trip we have had before and walked away with some great sized hybrid bass! With confidence I can say from start to finish the trip, captain and enjoyment of the day exceeds any expectations. Thank you so much Brian. You’re awesome!

3 HR - Trolling • 4 adultsWe went out this past Tuesday Morning, it was around 26 degrees outside, the water was cold. It was my me, my grandma of 88, and my dad. We had never been to TN before, and with the cold we were definitely nervous. Brian made us feel welcome as soon as we pulled up to the doc. We spent a few minutes searching and Brian leaned a little on the community of Anglers who fish J Percy Priest. And before we knew it, we were into some amazing hybrids, were all in the 6-7 pound range. We even caught some pure white bass trolling out there. He kept us warm inside and out, and was patient as we fumbled around in the freezing temperatures. I mean, we are CA, I thought we were gonna die, but we did quite the opposite and even under the same conditions would definitely do again!

4 HR - Trolling • 1 adultCaptain Jerimiah was incredible for my trip! I had one mission and it was to catch a Hybrid Striper bigger than my previous biggest (1lbs 10oz). Jerimiah took me out to a spot where we jigged for White Bass and Hybrids. At this first spot, we saw tons of fish on the live scope and, unfortunately for me, I didn’t catch anything jigging. We did not jig very long however, but it was long enough for Jerimiah to get in a White Bass and a Yellow Bass. We went to check out a few other spots with no success at any of the other spots, so it didn’t take long before we found ourselves back at our first spot. This time, we decided to troll. It did not take long at all into trolling where we got a fish and it happened to crush my previous biggest Hybrid by over 3 lbs. Less than 10 minutes later, the rod went again, and I ended up pulling in 2 Hybrids on the exact same rod at the same time! Both Hybrids were good size and each about 4-4.5 lbs. Half an hour after that, I beat my new biggest Hybrid again, setting at just over 5 lbs. Less than half an hour after that, I landed a big White Bass and the other pole had gone so Jerimiah got it, leaving us with a fun double-up selfie! Eventually, the Hybrid bite slowed and the small White Bass took over and the trip was over! I had so, so, so much fun on this guided trip! Jerimiah and I talked about fishing and his guiding, and now… I’ll be back out on the water with him soon! I’m not 100% sure yet when, but I’m definitely looking at my schedule to see about going out on another trip with him in the next month or two!

The spring post spawn bite is on fire!

Over the last few week the bug fish have move back out if the creek and are closer to the main lake chanel. They starting to key in on big gizzard shad and blue blue gils. My last two trips out out put 15-20 solid fish in the boat, including several nice stripers. Bucktail jigs trolled have been very effective as well. Should only continue to get better as we get into summer! Lets go fishing!

We’re consistently putting 15–20+ fish in the boat every trip, with a great mix of big Hybrids and Striped Bass. Over the weekend, we landed multiple Hybrids over 10 pounds and several Striped Bass pushing 15+ pounds.

This week has brought thrilling conditions for anglers, with water temperatures reaching a steady 60 degrees alongside the influence of the full moon. These factors have triggered the hybrid stripers into spawn mode, making it a prime time for some incredible catches. The fish have shifted their behavior, moving away from their suspended positions over the main lake river channel and heading toward the shorelines and channel-adjacent flats, where they are now feeding aggressively. We caught fish as fast as we could bait the hook, highlighting the intensity of the bite right now!

• Fish Activity: High – Hybrids in spawn mode, actively feeding

Percy Priest Lake Fishing Report – Week

The bite started off a bit tough this week due to muddy water from the weekend storms. Visibility was limited, especially up-lake, but conditions have improved steadily throughout the week. Water temps are now climbing into the 54–56°F range, and that’s triggered some good movement as fish begin their prespawn migration down the lake.
We’ve started to see more consistent action, and the bite is definitely picking up. Live bait is beginning to produce, especially for quality bites, and A-rigs are putting solid numbers in the boat. The hybrids have been active, and we’ve landed several over 8 pounds this week—strong, healthy fish that are feeding up and ready to fight.
Things are heating up on Percy Priest, and it’s only getting better from here!

Perseverence Pays off on Percy Priest La

**Fishing Report for Percy Priest Lake**
**Date:** August 11, 2024
**Weather Conditions:**
Today’s weather was warm with clear skies and plenty of sunshine. The morning started with temperatures in the low 80s, gradually warming up into the high 80s by the afternoon. Winds were light, with a gentle breeze keeping conditions pleasant out on the lake.
**Water Temperature:**
- Morning: 81°F
- Afternoon: 84°F
The recent hatch of shad in the lake made fishing a bit challenging today. Despite locating numerous schools of fish with the sonar, getting them to bite was tough, likely due to the abundance of natural food sources from the shad hatch.
Caught 5 hybrids throughout the day. One hybrid was caught using live bait cast out to the bottom, a somewhat unconventional but successful technique for the day. Managed to catch several good-sized catfish. They were more willing to bite, hitting live threadfin shad that were cast to the bottom. All fish were caught on live threadfin shad, which seemed to be the most effective given today’s conditions.
Overall, it was a day of perseverance on Percy Priest Lake. While the fish were plentiful according to the fishfinder, the new shad hatch made them more selective and harder to catch. However, the catfish provided consistent action, making for a satisfying day of fishing.
