The captain and mate were excellent. Aisha was excellent setting up the trip. The problem was that I specifically asked for live bait fishing for the trip AND was told by you that it was available. When I got there this was not available at all. To offer something and then not provide it is false advertising and leaves a very poor impression. I really wanted to fish live bait and still do. I will be back, but I cannot go with Skull.

It is unfortunate that you were unable to fish using live bait during the trip. I believe our team had already advised you before and after your arrival that procurement of live bait is never guaranteed. As such you weren’t charged for the use of live bait for the trip.

Availability of schools of live bait depend much on uncontrollable factors such as weather, current and its movement. However, we used bait/chum, lures and tackles which also proven to be very effective during your trip.

Our intention was never to mislead you and apologies for any misunderstanding on the matter. We try to make it clear to all our anglers that availability of live bait is never sure.

We will continue to improve our services and hope you will consider fishing with us again on your next trip to Maldives.

The day started out great , the boat arrived on time and looking prepared to catch fish. We were picked up at 5:30 and arrived at our first spot at 6:30-7am. We were able to catch one small tuna within the first 15 minutes of fishing .Awesome! This is where the trip started heading down hill, the tuna was not bled (after the captain telling me the tuna must be bled to preserve the meat) and put directly into a fishbox with NO ICE. I was weary but kept a level head. We only fished the first spot for about 30 minutes before the mate(Not fishing mate) said let’s go in shore. I agreed but was disappointed that we traveled 1.5 hour to the first spot to only fish it for 30 minutes. Another 45 minute ride to inshore for Gts. We popped and casted a spot for 10 minutes then the mate would have us move to a new sport 15 To 20 minutes away. After popping and getting my fix in I let the crew and captain know that I was tired and would rather troll. The request was put off until I almost had to demand to troll. We were able to troll for 5-10 minutes until the mate asked me if I was good to go. Being that I was trying to fish and not drive around anymore I accepted and started popping again. Mind you i fish regulary and could not handle the amount of popping they wanted me to do , even the mate stopped and I continued popping for over an hour after the mate himself stopped because of being tired.We had brought plenty of food and drinks but the mate insisted we return inshore for lunch. The cooler they had with water and “food” also did not have ice. Luckily we brought our own from the hotel to keep our 4 bottles of water cold. I insisted we did not want lunch but to try one more spot and head in. More of my time wasted! My girlfriend and I were tired of being driven around and told the crew let’s cut the trip short 3 hours and return back to the hotel. Once back at the hotel we were not offered any comepensation or even the fish we caught. ( I would not have wanted it because of no ice but it should have been offered to us ). The whole time the mate was telling us stuff that instead of helping was just making the situation worse. No ice . Hot drinks. No live bait or cut bait ,which was supposed to be provided . The variety of lures and tackle was lacking but tackle itself like rods were fine. I am not happy and would not reccomemend skull fishing to anyone. Felt like I got robbed . Never again!!

Thank you for your review. I am very surprised to read that you have found the service to be poor as majority of our anglers compliments our staff and crew for their courteous and excellent service. I only wish you had raised these issues during the trip so we could have had the opportunity to discuss your concerns and rectify it as soon as possible.

We are saddened you felt like you did not get enough time on fish. Our Captain decides fishing locations according to the customers targeted species. Large game fish such as Marlins and Tuna’s are located offshore, which requires us to travel further into the deeper sea. If fishing is slow in one location, it is our policy to change locations in order to give the customers high chances of game fish and minimize time wasted on locations where there is low activity.

Our 8 hour experience includes a BBQ lunch at a local island which is why we carry only prepacked snacks and refreshments on board.

It is unfortunate that we couldn’t procure live bait for your trip. As we had mentioned in the message, procuring live bait is never guaranteed for a trip as it depends heavily on weather conditions of the day prior to the trip which is why no additional charge was taken for live bait.

I apologize that certain aspects of your trip did not meet your expectation. I will make sure to do a thorough review on what happened on your trip regarding some matters you have highlighted to improve our services further. We hope you give us a chance to serve you again in the future and experience a much better fishing trip with us next time you are in Maldives.
