We all got a shot or two at a tarpon, and landed 3 for 7 of the fish.  We could have caught the sharks if we had targeted them, and we got some nice mangrove snapper for dinner.  Dinner and a show! 

We departed cow key marina with the pleasure of fishing with Capt. Dan of Key West Fishing Connection, and I can not give him enough stars.  5 star doesn’t quite cut it in describing non-stop action trips with tarpon, sharks, and snapper.  Undoubtedly we got dinner and a show - on just a short trip. We fished at night near the bridges in the channel and caught tarpon and mangrove snapper.

Capt. Dan was not only an expert guide who knows all the best spots to find fish but also a fantastic teacher. With some newer to tarpon anglers, our group and I wanted to learn as much as possible about the fish species we were targeting as possible. Capt. Dan was incredibly patient and informative. He coached us on proper casting techniques, bait selection and rigging, and even shared fascinating facts about the fish we were catching.

Throughout the night, Capt. Dan’s enthusiasm for fishing was contagious, and his expertise made us feel at ease even when we were reeling in our first fish. He made sure to explain everything we needed to know and provided us with tips and tricks that we’ll carry with us on future fishing trips.

One of the most amazing parts of the trip was seeing all the sharks, tarpon, and other baitfish feeding and swimming around us. There was an entire school of pilchards, and very large mangrove snapper.  Capt. Dan’s knowledge of the local ecosystem and marine life really added to the experience.  We caught and released several tarpon (3/7) and saw some of the real big silverkings rolling and feeding.

I would highly recommend Capt. Dan and Key West Connections to anyone looking for a fun and exciting fishing trip, whether they are a seasoned angler or new to the sport. Capt. Dan’s patience and coaching ability make him an ideal guide for those looking to learn and improve their fishing skills. I can’t wait to book another trip with Capt. Dan and Key West Connections.

We tried for Goliaths but they just weren’t biting. We could see them but they were not hungry today. He then took us to his shark spot where I hooked into a bucket list bull shark. 8-10 feet long 250ish lbs. 35 minutes to bring it in….so much fun. My son also got a nice lemon shark. Captain Daniel tried his best today to get us on fish and he succeeded. I would recommend him in a minute. Thanks for the great memories.

Capt. Dan guided our family on a fishing trip of a lifetime! His decades of experience fishing in the Keys paid off with us catching our fill of giant shark. Lemon, sand, and even a giant bull shark were all landed, and we even had some time to rest on an ecotour of the mangroves. Capt. Dan was safe, prepared and guided us with confidence. Highly recommended and can’t wait to come back.

If you want to catch fish in Key West while having a great time in a safe environment, put down the mouse and look no further!  We booked a 3 hour shark trip and had nonstop action the entire trip.  Not only is Dan a great, professional and knowledgeable captain, but he is also a wonderful person.  He is a must if you want to fish Key West!

My wife and I went out with Captain Dan and had an awesome experience. We hooked some lemon sharks and a blacktip shark then went to hang out at the sand bar for a bit. Captain Dan knows the waters and will get you some fish and set you up for a great time. We’ll be back!
