Phenomenal day on the water with Capt. Derek and mate John on Back N’ Black. They kept us on the fish and ensured we had an awesome trip out. Besides our haul of fish (which came in at 110 lbs total) we also had two catch and release Sailfish, which were hooked at the same time! Mahi-Mahi, Tilefish, Amberjack, and a Ribbonfish (special request made to stop and catch one on our way in by one angler). Comfortable cabin, A/C which gave us a place to cool off when needed. Everyone enjoyed seeing Pilot Whales, Sperm Whales, and Dolphins on our trip out and back as well. Capt. Derek and Mate John were polite, professional and most of all fun! Our group of six ranged in age from 19 to 53 (women and men) and everyone had a blast. We highly recommend Capt. Derek, John and Back N’ Black. They did not disappoint and we will always choose them for all future fishing trips offshore.

I found Back N Black Charters on the internet google search without any recommendation and am very glad I did.  Everything was awesome!  I Highly recommend the boat and crew.  We caught big fish and just had a very good time.  Captain Derek and mate Jonathan worked very hard to put us on big fish and made sure we had a memorable trip.  We caught a big marlin and a huge yellowfin tuna amongst other species of fish.  We had a mixed group of teenagers and older experienced fishermen and we all learned a lot from the crew.  It truly was a special trip that we will remember for a life time.  The Back N Black is a very comfortable and fast boat with a lot of amenities.  Captain Derek is a young go getter and will take you all the way out to find big fish and Jonathan is a very experienced mate that worked his butt off to make sure you catch what you have on line.  I can’t recommend the Back N Black and crew enough.  I have fished in a lot of places and this ranks very high on my list of favorites.  I definitely will come back to the outer banks and I will be going on this boat with this crew.

I could not recommend going out with Captain Derek and First Mate Jackson. We were originally scheduled to stay in shore, but the fishing had been so great overall the day before that they took us out to the ocean anyway. While we didn’t catch a TON of fish - we did get some cool fish on the deck and in our bellies once we got home :) so overall a great end to the day.

I couldn’t recommend Back n Black more! The amenities were great, bathrooms were clean, and they provided more than enough room to put things on ice.

Capt Derek Nelson and mate Johnathan are top notch.  We got into the yellowfin first thing including an 87 lb’r, then hooked up and got a leader release on a beautiful 450 lb Blue Marlin; finished up with a couple nice bull Mahi.  Fantastic day and excellent chemistry between captain and mate.  Highly recommend these guys.
