Caught 6 tarpon last night! The bite had been nothing short of incredible. Even with all the mini lobster season madness on going. We've been getting tarpon of all sizes fishing close to home. Many of the residents that hang out here all year and there aren't many people targeting them especially in the early evenings. It's one of the best kept secrets of fishing down here. Got our during the lobster mini season craziness and had some good fishing! We went 3 for 5 in tarpon. Weather has been beautiful light winds and lots of fish still around. The fishing is better now than it was in prime season in all honesty. Not a whole lot of pressure either. We often have the evening windows available short notice. Got on some tarpon the other afternoon. The evening trips are still a good bet. Beat the heat and be out for the sunset period where they often fire up. These local tarpon are here all through the summer and fall until it gets cold. And we often are fishing mahi carcasses which makes for easy bait to get so that takes the worry of having bait off the table. Give me a shout lets go catching!

Got out for a full day but we split it in half which i sometimes do this time of year. We had tarpon action in the morning and then again in the evening. Caught a couple for the day and had a few more shots all staying within a few miles. July should remain good for tarpon and last minute availability is a little better. Still getting after the tarpon here in Islamorada. We should continue having decent fishing through July and who knows maybe into september or October. It was kind of a slow start this season so were hoping the later season will continue to produce. Weve had plenty of tarpon around early this season with the warm weather. Got out a few days ago with a group and had several in the canals of local Islamorada. Great option on a half day the next few months. Also the evening window is not a bad time to target them and in the busy spring break time i often have availability then.
