My family and I had never tried sea fishing. Captain Jim was amazing. He showed us all how to do it, and encouraged my kids to keep reeling in those fish when they gave a fight. He was patient and answered all my kids questions (ex. Why he puts bait on a certain way.) You can tell he truly has a passion for fishing and sharing it with others.
We reeled in more fish than I could count! I wasn’t expecting such successful fishing all day long! Took a few to a local restaurant and cooked them up. Such an experience of a lifetime and I wouldn’t hesitate to schedule another trip with Captain Jim when I return to the Keys.

My wife and I recently did a 3/4 day reef trip with Captain Jim on the coldest day of the year. Conditions were windy, so Jim wisely decided to head towards the gulf side instead. He worked very hard, checking several spots before we got into the fish. We had bites on virtually every cast from then on! Jim and Gina were great teachers, and had us rigged and ready to go for the next cast the second our fish was landed. We caught lots of nice mackerel, snapper, jacks, and trout. Eventually, the sharks showed up. My wife and I managed to catch two spinner sharks and a black tip, which were fantastic battles on light tackle.

After the trip, captain Jim filleted our catch, gave us a great recipe, and gave us some dock fishing advice we put to use back at our lodging. As a longtime guide on mountain streams in the Appalachians myself, I quickly realized that Captain Jim is a first rate guide. His knowledge, patience, and teaching ability allowed us to learn a lot, and have a fishing experience we will never forget. Do yourself a favor, and book with Captain Jim!

Highly recommend, Captain is very honest and patient man. If your looking to pay someone and treat them like ass when things don’t go the way you want, don’t go to reel therapy. This captain is better than that and deserves your respect, thank you’d and pleases! He is all alone and does not have a first mate. If you can walk in grace and are willing to help him run the boat, anchor, baiting, etc. you will learn the most.  But if you want to sit their and just expect like an entitled bitch go some were else. I love this man. He is a good friend now

Tough day; wind, tide and currents were all against us. But, Jim worked his ass off and was able to put us on fish! We’re going out again with him again next week. Thanks for a great trip! My wife and I had a wonderful day on the water!

I wanted to fish offshore for mahi and sailfish, Jim took us out against what many of his fellow captains were telling him with what was biting.  We trolled past debri and along an oil slick.  We ended up catching a half dozen MahiMahi, 3 keepers which provided a solid dinner, and the first Mahi I aver caught.  Jim is a very experienced fisherman we were in good hands on a flat perfect 80 degree day
