I grew up fishing on Lake Texoma and and surrounding areas. At some point decided to share my passion and experience so I opened my guide service. I love helping my clients create lifelong memories on the water.
Techniques
The most productive method is using live shad dropped down using a carolina rig. When the situations call for it I like to throw artificial baits such as swimbaits, topwaters, and slabs.

Yesterday and this morning were complete opposites! Yesterday we found fish stacked up shallow water and they were really aggressive. Last night we had another front come through and with pressure change and wind shift those fish were GONE! After an hour or so we switched gears and started looking for deeper ledges and covered a lot of water. It took a while but we found the fish and they fired up. It didnโ€™t take long to limit out. Trolling was the best technique today. Days like this can be tough but very rewarding when you figure it out.

Yesterday we had highs temps that never got over freezing but that didnโ€™t matter! It was a sunny day with light winds and we elected for a noon start time and went trolling. We located two great schools and hooked up doubles on every pass. The only negative of the day was we could only keep 11 fish because they were all big fish. On Lake Texoma we are allowed 10 fish per day per person and 2 of those can be over 20 inches. On this day we released 20 fish between 27-32 inches! If the worst problem we have is that we are catching to many fish then we are having a pretty good day!

This is the time of year to get on big fish! We werenout this morning geared up for both live bait and dead sticking but with no wind we decided to stick with live bait. We had 3 limits in a couple hours with a lot of fat 18-19 inch fish and several over 20 inches. Big fish of the day was a 29 inch followed by a 26! We also caught several bonus white bass to add to the box.

The cold temps maybe here but the striper bite is on fire. We are catching fish on live bait and deadsticking soft plastic baits in 40 ft to 65 ft of water. We are starting to see more big fish active and that should only improve throughout the winter. As the water temps drop I will transition more toward drifting and deadsticking instead of live bait. If you want to use live bait on a winter trip just let me know and I will have it ready to go.
