Wear light clothing and fully cover up.
Windproof light jacket.
Sunhat and sunscreen essential.
Sneakers.
If hiring rod bring clip on flasher rigs with pink. Your own bait other than squid would help.

Recommend Captain Brett and his deckhand and their boat Motutere. Every thing i expected of a charter was carried out. They were both extremely helpful whether preparing bait, asking everyone how thy were faring and more importantly, untangling lines during the numerous tangle ups.
Lastly i would recommend that people always take warm gear regardless of weather

Know the local knowledge of the area.ask the Skipper if you are new to fishing. You need to know what you are doing if you want to catch fish.

Book a fishing trip in tauranga with fewer anglers on board to avoid more tangled to maximize your hours in fishing not by undoing your tangled lines with other anglers.

I would recommend you go with Tauranga marine charters as the capt. is very active at chasing the fish.

Captain Ben and Dickie Paul were awesome. To be fair to them though...if you make a Manutere booking...be decent and show up. These trips must remain profitable if you want them to be there next time you want them.

Book with a reputable and experienced charter and try to find a spot on the boat at the rear.

THE HARBOUR IS QUITE DEEP SO YOU WILL NEED HEAVY SINKERS IF YOU ARE USING YOUR OWN TACKLE.
