Had another full day freelance offshore for 4 anglers who wanted to try to do some kelping. It's been a little rough finding kelp holding fish the last few days. The day started out great, got to a zone and we were hooked up within 2 minutes. Landed the first yellowfin at about 0930. Then we hooked 5 more and into the kill box. Also hooked a mako and tail whacked the main line just about at gaff. Wind started picking up and so did the boat traffic. Made it a little tough. All and all fish in the box and happy anglers.

Out all day today looked around in a couple of different zones offshore and there was no life and no paddy's to be found. Water was cold and green. We ended up moving a little on the inside to another zone I found some warmer water and ended up with 3 yellowfin out of 8. Light floro was the ticket and a hot bait. 1 bite was on a colt sniper. On the way back and we got a big splash and a surprise from an orca everybody sitting on the back deck got soaked. Pretty cool site to see.

Left Mission Bay at about 10pm for an overnighter. Wind came up and the ride was a little bumpy. Fished San Clemente Island and once the current picked up, we had fish reacting to chum. Ended the day with 1 black sea bass (released), 5 quality yellowtail and 8 bonito. Few casualties on the yellowtail or we would have had some double digits.

Had a 3 Pack Out today that just wanted to get out there for an introductory rockfish bite, 2 adults and child. Started off a little slow with not much current or wind. After a bit, current flowed and fish were biting. Ended the day with 15 assorted riffing, 3 vermillion, 2 whitefish and 2 bocaccio. We also chased around some schools of yellowtail, but they were up and down fast.

Had the opportunity to meet Alex and Liz today from Miami. Alex brought his east coast fishing skills to So Cal for an A.M Half Day. After discussing the game plan and with some good local Palegics biting, Alex want to score some So Cal Dorado. Unfortunately Liz said she has no fishing skills. Well. Guess what? Liz was the hot stick today, 1st fish, most fish, biggest fish and most hook ups. She actually did awesome. Alex got 2 and yes both had a good handful that came unbuttoned or short bit. End the half day with 5 dorado. Get me while their still here!

Fish are biting good! Get on it While it's here! Today was a four pack, Freelance offshore trip. We managed to vote 13 Dorado in the boat and 25 Dorado were "tactically released!! Don't be a farmer!!!!! 1yellowtail 15 lb grade and 1 bluefin 50 lb grade (2 bluefin mishaps). All and all a fun day on the water with a group with a positive attitude!
