Billfish Fishing Reports
First big game fish
January 9, 2022
Our customer from Poland used to fly fish a lot and wanted to try big game.Luckily for him his fishing technique helped him mentally as we hooked a very powerful fish that took our short corner lure and made a lot of acrobatic moves to try to get the hook out.It was a tough fight and about an hour of non stop reeling we were all happy to pull the estimated 475 lbs blue marlin into the boat. Before getting back we went into a school of skipjacks but they were hard to catch, probably because they had a lot to eat.
Big Black Marlin

A 5 hrs trip was enough for Mr Sam and his wife to catch a fish each.We caught a skipjack tuna in a school ,to get our female angler her first ever fish and as soon as we reached the dropoff we had a marlin hitting the short rigger lure.It took the team 2 hrs to get the estimated 500lbs Black Marlin on the boat....

Luck was on our side on this trip because with the strong wind blowing we did not have much choice .We caught 2 skipjack in a big school and about an hour later spotted a school of dorados in which we caught 4 dorados. We added the cherry on the cake when we had a blue marlin hit our long rigger lure.Mr Yuri reeled the fish to gaffing distance in 30 minutes. The estimated 150 lbs blue marlin was pulled onboard to complete a nice trip though it was rough

We were out for 20 minutes when we came across a school of skipjacks and caught 3.With dirty water close to the dropoff we decided not to do live baiting. An hour later we had a big adrenalin rush when the short corner lure was taken by an estimated 600 lbs marlin. We had about 750 mtrs of line out of the reel in a matter of couple of minutes.Unfortunately for our angler the hook came loose after an hour's fight.30 minutes before getting back we spotted a school of dorados and caught 4

Our fishing booker customer Mr Peter joined us for a 4 hrs trip and we found some skipjacks jumping everywhere on this calm sea but not biting at all.We kept going with the lures and soon got a blue marlin strike. The angler did a very good job and we shortly pulled our customers' dream fish onboard. We were getting ready to reset all the lures and had only the first line in the water when the short corner reel started screaming. The marlin took about 500 meters of line before the hook came loose.Lucky fish...... see you next time
