Have you ever dreamed of reeling in a Billfish in the pearlescent waters of Mauritius, but you aren’t a die-hard angler with decades of fishing experience? Your dream is a reality with Billfish! Captain Billy Lamarque will put you on the most prestigious bite around, no matter your skill level!

The “Billfish” is a 38’ custom-built cruiser, powered by twin 225HP turbo Perkins Sabre engines. It has a very spacious fishing area, a very comfortable seating area, and is fully equipped for big game fishing. Outriggers, downriggers, and even a center rigger, it’s all set up for maximum Billfish hookups.

Capt. Billy and his professional first mate Jerome have learned fishing with their late grandfather and other well-known fishermen of the area. Come and join them for a wonderful experience and share in the thrill of hearing that reel screaming. They’ll provide you with all the equipment and the know-how to battle many pelagic predators. You can target fish like Dogtooth, Yellowfin, and Skipjack Tuna, as well as Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Barracuda, and various Sharks.

The main stars of the show are the Black, Blue, and Striped Marlin, and Sailfish. After fishing for Skipjack to use as live bait you’ll head out to the 9000’ deep water to go after these torpedo-sized monsters.

While you’re waiting for the bite you can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the coastline of Mauritius, as Dolphins playfully breach the surface near the boat.

What are you waiting for? Book a trip with Billfish now to start making your dream come true!

This is a perfect trip for those who do not like the hassle of getting up early during the holidays. There are days when the fishing is best during the afternoon, especially when the bite has been slow in the morning. Big Yellowfin Tuna typically show up in March and April, so this trip will give you a good chance to catch one of these strong fighters. Targetted species are Bonito, Skipjack, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Sailfish, Marlin, Shark, and more!

This trip gives you a good chance to catch any kind of fish as the fishing grounds are close to shore (fishing starts just 10 minutes after leaving the reef channel). If Skipjack Tuna are around, a freshly caught one will go in the water as live bait and you'll slow-troll (for the big ones) along the first drop off, which goes to about 300' (100m) deep. If there are no signs of bait, you will troll artificial lures in deeper waters (up to over 9000' or 3000m) for Billfish or any other fish.

Add that extra hour to your extended half-day trip to make sure you enjoy more of the action! This trip is perfect in case the fish don't show up too early. You'll hit the waters for Skipjack Tuna to use as bait for the bigger target – Billfish!

The team will be very pleased to have you on board for a full day. This trip gives you the best chance to catch something nice. There can be days where the fish are shy in the morning and start to feed later on in the day. It would be regretful to leave a hungry school of fish or a very hot spot when you are in the middle of it because of timing. More time on the water means more chances and more time to enjoy the fishing and the scenery!

Grandson of a professional fisherman, fishing has been in my blood since birth. First of all, it is my passion and I've been fishing professionally for more than 20 years. I will be pleased to share my knowledge of fishing in the Mauritian waters with you and maybe even learn something from you.

The rare Spearfish
The rare Spearfish
February 6, 2024
With no bird activity along the dropoff we moved to the deeper waters in search of a billfish or a dorado though those fishes had been shy on the bite after the cyclone brought a lot of rainwater in the sea. However we were lucky enough to catch a Spearfish on light tackle.

On a windy day we were out with our South African guests for a good time on the water. We were expecting to come across some schools of dorados but they were not there. After about 4 hrs of trolling we came across a few birds and had a strike on the long shot but had no hookup. We turned around and came towards the birds again and saw that big blue marlin take the lure on the long rigger. We immediately saw that it was a nice fish as it was taking line off the reel at an incredible speed while it was jumping. Our angler managed to gain line quickly before there was none left on the reel. After an hour and half of hard battle we had just enough strength to pull the fish onboard. We went to a nearby fishing club to weigh the fish and the scales showed an amazing 820 lbs.It turned out to be the clubs biggest of the season.

After a few days of big swell we were able to go fishing. With s lot of dirty rain water in the sea we had to head straight to the deeper waters to get clean water. We had a first strike on the long rigger but did not get a good hookup and after a couple of jumps the marlin got away.We worked the area for a while and had a double hookup on the short and long corner lures. One of the two fishes was lucky to get the hook out and our Russian customer was lucky to get to fight the 250 lbs fish.45 minutes later we had the fish in the boat
