Hi All There is about 4 to 6 weeks of Summer heat left. Time to cash in on Pike and Smallmouth Bass. I have been fishing Browns and Rainbows for a few hours in the a.m. then switching over to Bass and Pike as the water warms. Fishing has been good. Mid August thur Mid September is a great time to book trips for King Salmon as they make there way up into the rivers to spawn. We catch these awesome sport fish with spinning gear and lures. It's bass style casting for 10lb.--30lb+ Salmon biting a lure your casting and retrieving similar to Bass style fishing. We cast flies for the Kings as well but best results are from the lures. In the fishing world a Trout on a Dry fly is considered to be at the top of the list. Now is the time to try that. Dry fly fishing is going very well. Nymph fishing is good also when the bugs are sleeping or it's chilly out. River Fishing for Smallmouth Bass and Pike is way more fun than in a lake. I would suggest trying it also. You are free floating down a stream casting at all the banks and structure and not a Jet Ski or Ski Boat in sight. Hi All The Opening Day of Trout Season is almost here. It has been a great Steelhead season ! The last few days out with Client Pete and friends Brooke and Russ have been a lot of FUN ! Catching Steelhead and Brown Trout on Streamers is a blast. Bone crushing strikes, rip the rod from your hands, if you let them..The boat launches are way less busy than a couple weeks ago as my picture shows. Book a trip and sit in that seat and we will cast flies or lures all day or half day from the casting brace. I will be back out tomorrow and with any luck getting more pictures for the next report. The Pere Marquette River is warming and so is the action. Many Steelhead are fresh and 100 ft down stream in the blink of the eye with water temps in the 50's.There is a great mix of Steelhead and Brown Trout eating flies. Best flies have been Stone Flies, Salmon Parr, Hairs Ears, lastly egg flies. I have been pretty busy the last week+ and have had lots of great return clients. I have open dates and not sure how long the Steelhead run will last? This April 29th. is our Trout Opening Day. This opens up hundreds and thousands of miles of closed stream, re-closing is October 1st. This creates the Wild Trout fishery we have that and our cold spring fed water. Can't wait to meet you !
