Fresh Mozambique Fishing Reports

Today, another group of clients joined us for a half-day fishing trip, topped off with a relaxing lunch on Inhaca Island. Despite the short window, we had some great action on the water, landing some nice catches while trolling. It was a quiet but productive few hours of fishing, proving once again that even a short trip can be packed with excitement and great memories. ? We went Ou this day and had an amazing day where we released 2 blue Marlins and 1 black Marlin , all on stand up tackle 80 pound line , we had in Total of 6 Marlin strikes. And a nice big King mackerel of 24 kg wich we caught on the sand banks on the way home with light tackle for our guests to enjoy dinner. It has been now 15 trips in a row catching and releasing Marlins everyday!!!!

The first half of March 2015 produced very good catches of Dorado, wahoo, yellow fin tuna and good marlin action of Ponta do Ouro. 95% of the fish were caught on PULSATOR lures trawling offshore in the deeper purple blue waters with water temperatures averaging around 27.5 degrees. We mainly trawled konas in the 30 to 50 pounds class. The Louies exciter lure produced the most fish and is my personal preferred PULSATOR lure. This lure need very little speed and perform well at high speed too, "smokes" like a steam train and "swim" with a left/right motion giving it a live like action. I was fortunate enough to see many a dorado coming in with great speed attacking these lures with reels screaming soon afterwards. Catching dorado this time of year is very "late" as they normally frequent our waters around November & December. This might be a good indication that the season might be late giving as the chance for good billfish action still to come. With this in mind, we are looking at working the deeper offshore waters of Inhaca Island / Santa Maria for Mr. Billfish. Fish we caught with the Louies exciter PULSATOR lures, to name but a few species, dorado, tuna, wahoo, cuta, marlin and sailfish. The fishing inshore has been slow with cuta, prodigal son, yellow fin tuna and dorado coming out using bait. We did 2 trips 21/03/2015 One for Blue Marlin fishing Wich we raised 6 , had 4 strikes and released 2 250 # blue Marlin, on the way back from the deep we stopped to catch some amberjack and caught a nice amberjack of 18kg and another 3 or 4 of around 7 to 9 kg. Our guests where very happy. The 2nd trip was Bottom fishing, jigging and drifting. I didn't have any clients on this day as it was a Monday , working day for everyone so I decided to take my small boat and my guilty boy and do some nice fishing, We left the port around 9 am and went bottom fishing and catch around 15 nice red Romans to eat with red snapper also. Then with the rising tide went north to one of my secret fishing places Wich I name The beast. This place has made me won lots of completions with the big mackerel , whaoo, nice tuna, all sorts of kingfish and really big Gt so we decided to give it a try, we started jigging and drifting. We catch 13 king mackerel all over 13 kg and the biggest one being 21 kg, We also caught a nice Gt of 32 kg , some other bluffer king fish and yellow tails , and lost a lot of other fish that brake as of.
