enough time for catching snapper amd smaller eating fish. If you want to head out to deeper water for bigger catch I think you’d want at least a 4 hour trip.

“March is a great time to fish in Marathon. The water was active and we saw tons of wildlife including dolphins, sea turtles, sharks, stingrays, and barracuda. We caught snapper and even had time to swim and snorkel. I’d recommend booking a charter and being ready for an amazing day on the water.”

Be flexible, weather conditions are a big driver in where you can go and what you can catch. If big game isn't available, either go for fun fishing (shark, tarpon) or reschedule to avoid disappointment.

We were lucky to get a great weather day. If you have the luxury of booking very close to the date on the water, or rescheduling, watching the weather is helpful, as the week prior was not great weather.

Yes. We had booked pur trip a month in advance and were there during the coldest period on record in 10 years, so not a normal experience. we were also the only ones fishing on several days and still caught fish. It was slow but had we kept what we caught we would have limited on 3 species and caught 9 species in total. Not a bad trip even in the toughest conditions one could dream up.

Keep your expectations realistic. Fishing is not catching and we certainly did not see any huge trophy fish but we had a great time. Also, our weather was colder than average with 50 degree temperatures which for sure impacted the fish. We did have a great time and saw several large sea turtles and caught plenty of snapper.

Do the right research to find a guide that is reputable. The most expensive charyer isnt always going to be the best and the cheapest my not be the worst. a charter that has 5 stars with 5 reveiws may be good but that is not a reputation. but a charter with 120 reviews that has 4.9 stars is reputable!

Mutton snapper where available. Had a few bites but those fish are Grand Masters of the ocean
Would suggest when grouper season is open as well so you have more options and targets to fish for.
