Fresh St. Augustine Fishing Reports

We caught several red fish black drum and snapper on this trip as fall fishing has been getting better

Fishing around St. Augustine has been producing some great opportunities lately, with both tarpon and redfish keeping anglers busy. Tarpon have been showing up around the inlets, channels, and deeper moving-water areas, providing some of the most exciting action of the trip. Live bait has been a strong choice, particularly around areas with good current and bait activity. Once hooked, these fish have been putting anglers to the test with powerful runs, jumps, and long battles. Redfish have also been biting well throughout the St. Augustine area. The flats, creeks, oyster beds, and marsh edges have been holding good numbers of fish, especially around the moving tides. Early mornings and periods of lower light have been productive, with live bait, cut bait, and artificial lures all producing fish. Working the edges of the grass and creek mouths during an incoming or outgoing tide has been a good way to find feeding redfish. The bait situation has been encouraging, with plenty of activity in many areas and predators taking advantage of it. Paying attention to birds, nervous water, bait schools, and current seams has been key to locating active fish. Redfish have been feeding aggressively when the tide is right, while the tarpon have been providing plenty of excitement for anglers looking for a bigger challenge. Overall, fishing conditions around St. Augustine have been very good, with a nice mix of inshore action and opportunities for larger game fish. Whether you're targeting hard-fighting redfish on the flats or chasing tarpon around the deeper water, there are plenty of opportunities to bend a rod. With favorable tides, good bait, and some patience, anglers should continue to have a great chance at putting some quality fish in the boat.

The redfish were on fire following the mullet run. We also caught several spotted sea trout.

Flounder were active early on live shrimp. Several speckled trout were also caught along with plenty of rod action on ladyfish and jack crevalle.
