If you are looking for an amazing fishing experience in Kona I would definitely recommend Reel Escapes for your next adventure! The captain and deckhand made it very interactive and such a fun experience for us! We learned a lot about the island and the waters! If you can, I recommend booking the 6 or 8 hour charter! Definitely an experience we will never forget!

Kenny was great! Very experienced and knowledgeable. Two in our party caught fish while two others had near catches. He clearly knows the area and where to catch fish. He adjusts his trips based on the group and was super nice. Would definitely recommend booking with Kenny. When we come back, we will definitely book with him again.

Lots of sunscreen and patience. Remember it’s fishing sometimes you catch fish sometimes you don’t. Don’t go in expecting to catch a monster fish just because you’re in the ocean.

We made the right choice to book with Deep Sea Fishing Charters and would rebook again. Some other captains were “salty” when just talking to them on the phone but Captain Matt was genuinely happy and excited with us.

If you are looking to catch quanity then bottom fishing is a great way to go but if you are hoping to catch larger fish then you are going to want to go deep sea fishing (trolling).

Experienced.fishermen will get plenty of action throwing spoons but those not adept at casting may be better off with live bait. We caught 23 fish. Most were 2-3 lbs. This is a catch and release fishery
