Fishing has been excellent in March. The water has been at a great level and the water temperatures have been in the mid 40's. Jerkbaits, tubes and ned rigs have been the go to. The smallmouth are being caught in current seams, slow moving current and eddies on the shoreline and in mid river.

The water on the river is in the low 40โ€™s. We have above average water levels with stained water. We have been fishing soft plastic baits in middle river eddies and shoreline eddies.

So far since the start of January 2022 we have had extremely cold temperatures in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This coming week of February 6th, I will start booking trips. Cold water means fish slow. I have been using tubes and suspending jerkbaits to catch smallmouth and largemouth bass. Look for pools of water on the river. Any area on the river that has still water could hold fish.

49 degree water this week brought out the river donkeys. Jerkbaits caught almost all the larger fish.

The river is very clear and in the high 60โ€™s. We have found success with suspending jerkbaits. Try shoreline areas with large rocks and wood. Give these areas time, be patient. Jerkbaits catch big smallmouth bass.
