Fresh Curtice Fishing Reports

Today I hosted Jaap and family for a redemption trip. Despite yesterday’s difficulties, we were able to box a boat limit of walleye weighing in at #70 pounds on the scale at Al Szuch Live Bait. Some days you eat the bear, and some days the bear eats you. Saturday had the bears feasting on me. Despite throwing everything but the kitchen table at them, I just couldn’t figure them out. I had Jason, his sister Tricia and her two boys Jackson and Chase whom were visiting from Kansas along for the ride. Luckily for me they were less concerned about what species we were catching and more about the actual catching. Well, between the sheephead, white perch, and catfish, we finished with two exhausted kids and eleven walleye and one yellow perch for the box.

Garrett and Jim came up from West Virginia this afternoon for a little Reel Therapy! The weather was a little off from what the weatherman was reporting, but we rolled with it and boxed a boat limit of Lake Erie walleye. We were trolling bottom bouncers with worm harnesses in 10’ of water at 1.8sog. Big shout out to Al Szuch Live Bait for staying open to ensure my guests fish were cleaned this evening. Saturday had me hosting Bill and his three sons for an afternoon boil! Despite the heat and abundance of short walleye, we were able to catch quite a few legal sized fish before they decided to head in to make it to a 4th of July party back home in Delaware, Ohio. Al Szuch Live Bait made quick work of cutting the fish and had them on their way in record time. I still have several weekend dates and quite a few evenings available in July. Saturday morning I had the father son duo of Dan and 9 year old Henry aboard for Henry’s first time walleye fishing. The weather was perfect and the fish were hungry. Henry had the catch of the day when he snagged a fishing reel that has probably been on the bottom of the lake for 40+ years. We finished with the customers limit and the captain caught half his limit, saving the other half for the afternoon trip. Went fun fishing this morning with my brother, nephew, and a friend. We got a little later of a start than I would have liked, as we were hoping to make quick work and beat the heat. We still managed to fill the box and get off the lake before it got too hot.
