Fresh Folly Beach Fishing Reports

Warmer weather and calm conditions have the Redfish schooled up and hunting for food. We have been catching them using shrimp, minnows and soft plastics on the flats. In deeper water floats with a long leader is working best. The water is very clear this time of year so we've been making the longest casts we can so we don't spook them. Employing this method almost always results in multiple hook ups. Aside from Redfish we've also been catching some Black Drum and Speckled Trout. Expect to see more of these other species as of water continues to warm. We've had a great winter and although it's not over yet I expect fishing to get better and more consistent from here. Yes, you will need a coat in the morning. But afternoons are usually in the 60's or better. And what a small price to pay for some of the best fishing of the year. Redfish are schooling up to put on weight before our short winter begins in mid January. Speckled Trout and Black Drum are feasting on minnows and shrimp as days get shorter and the water cools. We have been catching fish by drifting baits in current edges on floats and jigs. It's a great time of year for big numbers of fish to come over the rail. Let's go fishing!

The fishing has fully switched over to the fall pattern. A mix of sharks, rays and redfish have been caught on the most recent trips. The sandbar sharks have been the most common catch with their size ranging from about 3-7ft with some of them putting up some real fights. The warm weather lately really has the fish fired up and has extended out season. A good time to come fish before the season ends in a few weeks

Another great day on the water! We fished with minnows and shrimp on the flats early in the tide and moved out to current breaks around points when the tide got higher. Caught too many to count! Let's go fishing ?

It's October and soon it will be November. The fishing is great for Speckled Trout, Redfish, Black Drum and some Flounder. We've been using shrimp and minnows on jigs and floats depending on conditions. Casting plastics has also been working good on some days. Regarding the weather, it can be a little cool in the morning, but most afternoons are going to be very comfortable. Grab a jacket and let's go fishing!

Alisha, Jess and 7 yr old Ames jad a great day casting minnows and Shrimp for Redfish, Speckled Trout and Flounder. We started around low tide and fished until the tide was coming in. Lots of action for these anglers today!
