Find a great captain with a good knowledge of the area and local conditions. Listen to the advice provided and you will be successful. What works where you normally fish might not work here.
I fish frequently in NJ. Bait that will catch black drum there doesn’t work here. An experienced Capt will know that.

Yes. Carry a poncho just in case. Misting rain does not slow down the fishing but it can make you cold.. Be sure to bring a large cooler, these fish are large.

We learned during this trip that if we wanted to catch shark, we might want to come during the warmer months. In line of that, we are planning to see Captain Cody again in late spring.

Bring sunscreen and plenty of water. Also if the charter offers to clean the fish and you have to travel a distance back home (several hours) not a bad idea to bring a food sealer

Try to make it out at your scheduled time. We delayed our start time by a few hours. The Redfish were hitting at our first stop but they went quiet after that. Timing can be everything so probably best to stick with times suggested by the Captain.
