Spring Bite

With the water temps on the rise, the fish are hungry and eating erything in sight! The trout bite has been great with some big breeders in the mix. The redfish on the flats are still schooled up and feeding hard!

Went out on a quick little trip to catch some bull redfish. Filled the live-well with plenty of bait in one cast of the cast net, and then we were off to the first spot. I casted the first rod out and before I could get the second bait in the water, the drag started screaming on the first bait. Within minutes we had our first bull red in the boat and it was a STUD! After 2 hours of bent rods and sore arms they decided it was time to head back in!

The BULLS are back!!

With the water temps steadily warming back up the bull redfish are beginning to make their way back into the jetties and Charleston harbor. Fishing in good current on the edge of the channel and drop-offs have been producing good numbers of bull redfish. These fish range anywhere from 10 pounds to well over 30 pounds!! As each day passes the bite is getting better and better as we are transitioning into the summer months.

Definitely give barrier island ecotours a try you will not be let down, they definitely will over deliver on service, and fishing, attitude and knowledgeable and very professional people, I will definitely be back. Fish we caught as in whole numbers was around 35 to 45 fish on a very hot day with a lot of wind. My 3 boys loved the trip.

We were less concerned with the type of fish that we caught in more focused on keeping our boys engaged with any type of fish. Our captain kept us busy with sharks since they were what was biting.
