Bass are biting!

8/11/25 Monday Today we had a new charter for a half day on the bay. We started our day with a decent pick of the bass. We made a couple of moves and picked until we got what we needed. We then went angling for more variety, even seeing a few Casper’s, only to hook a few shakers flatties. Richard, Thanks for trying the Nautilus! We look forward to our next adventure. 8/10/25 Sunday Today we had a repeat charter out for a full day. We started our day with biting bass. We had what we needed in a very short time. We ran out the gate and had much improved weather since Friday. We thought we were going to have an easy time catching, the fish had other ideas. We had to pick at them but got it done with a few lings thrown in. We ran to the halibut grounds and caught a flatty before the buzzer went off. Zhicheng, Thanks for the charter! Limits of Striped Bass

This morning we landed on a wide open striped bass bite and were able to catch limits for all clients and Crew by 9 AM. What a fun morning!

8/6/25 Wednesday Today we had some new customers out on a pm 1/2 day. We started our trip with very good bass fishing. Multiple hookups and we had what we needed in a very short time. We went looking for flatties but being a pm trip and warm valley weather, the bay was whipped up making difficult angling. We finally caught a flat fish to end our day. BIG Summer Time Bass Biting

The bite is consistent with numbers and mixed in with some really good size. The pic of this 7.5 lb bass was caught on a chatterbait at the last part of low tide. Book soon.

It’s a good intro to open water fishing. The waves aren’t too high but there’s some rougher areas. Even if you’re not actively catching fish, the surroundings are beautiful to sight see.

Russo's is a great marina with friendly staff and good parking. Easy access to close fishing from the dock and easy to get to and from the freeway. June the weather gets very hot so dress appropriately.

You need to book a trip with smaller tide movement. We booked on a 7ft tidal change that reduced the chances of catching fish but Captain Ken has been on the water for over 40 years and put us on the halibut.

Josie Mac Sportfishing

They did say that you might catch more fish when the bay is a bit warmer but we were still very happy with everything we caught and would still come in June! Make sure to bundle up the mornings are chilly on the water but we were prepared and it didn’t bother our kids!
