Be prepped for anything. There are so many species traveling the waters in October.

Be flexible. We fished for albie but we saw others catching flounders and drum. We did catch a dozen small fish in the surf.

Bring some water and snacks aboard. The Captain knows best for where to find the best catch! We caught two spotted drum on our trip!

Be prepared for windy days and choose your charter wisely! Changed plans and went inshore back country river fishing instead of running offshore.

Good Near / Inshore fishing in Morehead City has great clean water and populous fishery. Pretty tame waters for an easy fishing day. We didn't fish off-shore because the gulf stream/deep waters are 40+ miles off shore. Morehead City has several local restaurants to cook your catch. Always contact the captain to set and receive expectations for your best fishing day.

Charter a short local trip or go out with a friend who has some knowledge of fishing in the area. The best way to learn is from someone that already knows what they are doing, especially if you have never fished much. Once you learn a few basic skills and have some simple equipment, it can be pretty easy and excellent fishing.

We stayed on Emerald Isle and drove to Beaufort. The trip was about 35 minutes and easy.

Driving from Emerald Isle to Sealevel puts you on fish faster rather than wasting time boating and fishing less time.

Spanish Mackerel fishing is a good choice - close to shore, trolling or sight casting, great to eat.

Know what is in season and what you would like to fish for and know that it takes time to catch some species of fish.

This was a great trip. Two of our group were first timers and they enjoyed it thoroughly!

I didn’t think we were going to catch that many sharks, but after eating some I wish I had kept more of them. They were delicious.

Get there early and get ready for an exciting day. Don't forget your sunscreen.

Be open to going after whatever is biting. There had been some weather through, but the area around the Cape is a good place and a good place for a first trip in the area.

Understand that you are fishing in non-payment season and let Captain get you o. Fish that are in during the summer.
