I Love Fishing Charters
The whiting are small within the sound but once in a good spot you can catch a lot really quick. Also, bobbing rod up and down slow helps reset and makes it much more desirable given the current.

Find a great captain with a good knowledge of the area and local conditions. Listen to the advice provided and you will be successful. What works where you normally fish might not work here.
I fish frequently in NJ. Bait that will catch black drum there doesnโt work here. An experienced Capt will know that.
Donโt try to be the Capt or guide.

Bring sunscreen and plenty of water. Also if the charter offers to clean the fish and you have to travel a distance back home (several hours) not a bad idea to bring a food sealer

We fished in the bay because of the high winds. It would have been better if we could have fished the wrecks off shore. But thatโs fishing!

Charter fishing is the ticket. Surf fishing is ok if you can get good access to the beach. Charter trip will get you on fish and there is some awesome water inshore and nearshore, you don't have to go offshore, but if you have the time and money, go for it.
