The bigger boat was well worth it with the wind we still had fun and caught fish a small boat would not have been as much fun would have spent all our energy fighting the wind lol

Our trip was scheduled for a birthday. Normally, we would schedule according to weather, wind, tides ect. We were lucky!

I would recommend this trip for first timers as well. The Captian was friendly and explained everything.

Come prepared to take home lots of fish! If you can't at least take what you can eat over to Virginia's in Port Aransas and they will cook it for you. Make sure you are prepared for a fairly hot day in the sun. There isn't any shade on these skinny water boats. If you want more than water to drink make sure to bring your own favorite beverages iced down.

Captain Russ Wheeler is the real deal. He took us to the fish, and we hit our limit in 2 hours. Very Professional with great tips to help you catch fish.

Backwater fishing with a great guide makes all the difference. We had a wonderful time.

When in Rome type of deal. Captain joe is absolutely great for the rate he lists.

Make sure to get a good shady hat and a good pair of sunglasses. We bought my 7 year old Great Grandson his own life jacket (USCG approved) so he didn't have to wear one of the big orange jackets that are required if we hadn't. He was much more comfortable with the one we got him for about $70 dollars. His little sister will be able to use it once he grows out of it, so money well spent!

We fished before the eclipse. So it was a tough day. Would not recommend in the future. Fish before or after.

We got caught in a bad week of weather: strong tide, rip current, shoreline flood advisory, and strong wind. BUT, it's spring break so it's not like we picked the date - kids decided to take the chance.

For spring expect weather so keep an open mind. Still a great trip with lots of good fishing.

All you have to do is show up. He had cold drinks and everything we needed.

Be open to what kind of fish you’re going to catch because sometimes you are going to hit on the ones you aren’t planning on.
