FOR 28 YEARS I'VE BEEN PREACHING, AND ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL (Capt. Dave's Sport fishing) THAT N-O-W, IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR. WINTER IS GREAT IN JAKSONVILLE FOR LIGHT TAKLE FISHING INSHORE, THE SALT MARSH AND RIVER. DON'T SHOW UP IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER AND THINK ITS GOING TO BE AS GOOD AS IT IS NOW. (as of this report. DECEMBER 20TH 2025) I'VE BEEN AT THIS FOR 28 YEARS. AND HAVE HEAR IT ALL FROM PEOPLE. THEY THINK BECAUSE THEY ARE ON VACATION IN JULY, THAT THE FISH CARE! IT'S HOT AS HELL, AND SO IS THE WATER! FROM TEXAS TO FLORIDA, FISHING GUIDES WILL TELL YOU. RIGHT NOW IS THE TIME...''we all preach it''. BRING A JACKET WITH A HOOD, AND SNEAKERS, SOME DRINKS AND A SNACK IN A PLASTIC BAG...NO COOLERS, NO BACKPACKS. THATS ALL YOU NEED!! AND LETS GO. I CAN TELL YA MY REGULAR CUSTOMERS DON'T SHOW UP IN THE SUMMER, THEY'VE LEARNED OVER THE MANY YEARS, WHEN TO BOOK THEIR DAYS.

Fishing inside has been decent. Black drum sheeps head and the ocassional bull red likes to make an appearance. Openings available 20th and 21st afternoon and morning! Lets go fishing. Grear way to start christmas off early. Happy holidays!

I recommend booking a trip with Rocketman Charters with Captain Jonathan. We traveled to Jacksonville for a charter with another captain that we had booked months in advance. That captain had to cancel our trip the day before. Captain Jonathan w/ Rocketman Charters was able to salvage our trip and take us on a great fishing experience, even on a short notice and booking.

Rocketman Charter Fishing

I am a fisherman but not as skilled as Jon which is why me and my friend wanted to go with him to get experience. It was a partly cloudy day and above adverage high tide so we were able to get way up into the creeks. We were mainly looking for reds but ened up with trout. My friend had an epic fight with a large jack crevalle on Jon's lightest rod and it took ten minutes to bring in the fish.

This fishing charter was an amazing first time experience that I will never forget. We caught so many fish and have dinner for weeks. The captain Buddy Price was an excellent captain who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the charter. Highly recommend this trip!

Be prepared for cold weather. I was surprised that it was 32 degrees the morning that we went out. It did warm up to 52 or so but I can honestly say that I have never experienced this kind of weather in Florida prior to this weekend!
