Fresh Willapa Bay Fishing Reports

This year the return predictions are in excess of 500,000 Coho returning to the Columbia River. The first run has been good but still waiting for the strong second run of these world class fish to show in October. These fish range from 8 to 15 lbs and can put up a battle for all anglers.

Wow, what a great start to the 2022 Columbia River fall salmon run! We are currently fishing out of Astoria Oregon near the mouth of the columbia river where these fish are fresh from the ocean. Fishing is off to a great start and is only going to get better. I still have plenty of dates available if you are looking to get out and fish the famous bouy 10 fishery.

The Buoy 10 Fall Chinook have arrived in good numbers with fair to good catches for the fleet in the river. The Chinook are staging at the mouth and ocean and entering the river daily. The fishing should just get better through the end of the month for these quality Fall Chinook. Fish On !!

When it comes to chinook salmon fishing in the lower 48 it does not get any better! With more fish around than most of us expected, it has been a great month! Now get ready for coho to be in the river in September. Everything is pointing to continued good salmon fishing this fall.
