What a way to have ended the 2025 season
What a way to have ended the 2025 season

# 2025 Season Recap & 2026 Fishing Report - Adventure and Catch Charters Unforgettable Fall Finale The 2025 season closed with some of the most exceptional fishing the Gulf of Maine has offered in years. From Labor Day weekend through October, Adventure and Catch crews experienced non-stop action on giant Pollockโ€”trip after trip of trophy fish made this fall truly legendary. While the season brought its share of challenges, including a slower-than-usual Tuna season, the incredible highs far outweighed any setbacks. 2025 Season Highlights Spring Haddock Success (April - Mid-June) The season began strong in April with outstanding Haddock action through mid-June. We limited or near-limited on most every trip, sending anglers home with coolers full of premium table fare. Even when dogfish moved in mid-June and conditions became more challenging, our crews consistently found fish and ensured everyone left with quality catches. The Tuna Story The 2025 Bluefin Tuna season presented unique challenges. Heavy commercial pressure on baitfish populationsโ€”particularly herring and bunkerโ€”disrupted traditional feeding patterns. Industrial netting and dragging operations swept up bait schools early and in deeper water, delaying the Tuna arrival until mid-to-late August. While fishing closer grounds like Old Scantum proved tougher due to commercial activity, Adventure and Catch's willingness to explore and run farther offshore paid dividends. We located productive grounds and delivered exceptional catches for our anglers willing to make the journey. **Fall Pollock Bonanza** The season's grand finale came with what may have been the best Pollock fishing in Gulf of Maine memory. From September through October, we hit giant Pollock consistently, creating the kind of bent-rod action that anglers dream about. ## What Sets Adventure and Catch Apart **Expert Leadership & Regulatory Insight** Captain Andy serves on the prestigious **NOAA Gulf of Maine Recreational Advisory Council**โ€”a position earned through rigorous Coast Guard vetting and background checks. As one of the select voices providing input on recreational fishing regulations and catch restrictions, Captain Andy brings insider knowledge that directly benefits our charters. This council membership means you're fishing with someone who doesn't just follow the regulationsโ€”he helps shape them based on real-world fishing conditions and sustainability science. This expert perspective, combined with our **#1 ranking on FishingBooker for Portsmouth, NH**, ensures you're getting the absolute best charter experience on the New Hampshire seacoast. ## 2026 Season Outlook: Outstanding Prospects Ahead As a member of the GOM Recreational Advisory Council, Captain Andy has early access to fishery data and modeling that's painting an exceptional picture for 2026. **Haddock Outlook** Early indicators point to an outstanding Haddock season with potential limits of **15 fish per angler**โ€”one of the most generous allocations in recent years. **Cod Opportunities** Preliminary discussions suggest the possibility of spring Cod retention (May) in addition to the traditional fall season. While modeling is still being evaluated, the data trends are encouraging. **Target Grounds & Trip Options** - **Half-Day Trips**: Old Scantum and sections of Jeffreys Ledge - **Full-Day & Marathon Trips**: Jeffreys Ledge, Platts Bank, Three Dory Ridge, and Cashes Ledge - **Custom Adventures**: Including overnight trips (up to 4 anglers)โ€”just like the incredibly successful late-October overnight we ran in 2025 For the latest fishing reports and custom trip configurations, contact Captain Andy directly. ## Major Boat Upgrades for 2026 Adventure and Catch is receiving significant enhancements this off-season to elevate your fishing experience: **Fishing Stations & Electronics** - New custom bait station for efficient rigging - Additional helm and throttle station at the stern for better boat control while fishing - Third fish finder/GPS station for enhanced fish-finding capabilities **Performance & Reliability** - New heat exchanger for improved engine performance - Custom-designed propeller for better speed and fuel economy **The Tackle Advantage** Every deep-sea reel has been professionally rebuilt and spooled with the finest line available. We've removed all old braided line and installed **brand new Gen3 16x Diamond 150-200# braid**โ€”the most proven, tournament-grade line on the market. After several heartbreaking break-offs on trophy fish (including Halibut) in 2025, we're stacking every advantage in your favor. When you hook into the fish of a lifetime aboard Adventure and Catch, you'll have the best equipment giving you the best shot at boating it. Book Your 2026 Adventure The 2026 season runs April through late October/early November. Visit Adventure and Catch to secure your dates. Keep your lines tight, stay safe, and we'll see you on the water soon. Captain Andy Adventure and Catc

Be patient and fish hard when the fish are biting. The lobster dinner from Newickโ€™s is great conclusion to a marathon trip.

Apparently this is a poor year for haddock and cod, which is what we signed up for when we booked. We were recommended to not do this upon arriving due to a combination of choppy seas and poor recent success.

I think June may be a better time to be in Kittery. Less traffic and crowds etc. In addition the fishing might be better too

Fish in sping before the dogfish arrive and Haddok fishing is the best and you can keep one Cod in the spring and if lucky, one Halibut.
