The speckled trout bite has been absolutely amazing over the last few weeks. Some really large females are being caught and released. As well as limits of keepers for dinner. The redfish are holding on the oyster bars and along the mangroves.

With warmer temperatures and the water in the low 70’s. The bite is picking up. Bait is showing up on the grass flats and that means the trout bite is getting hot. Snook amd reds are stull holding on structure as well as mangrove lines. The bite has been very good on white bait with 20 to 25 pound leader.

The trout we’re holding along the deeper oyster bars eating white bait. There were redfish mixed in as well on the sections of the bars. The snook are congregated in the warmer sections of canals with mixed bottom of oysters and mud that keeps the water temperatures more stable. If your really looking for the meat haul, we are in the tail end of the sheepshead spawn so targeting them in or around the passes with deeper structure will work. I used a chicken rig with a 1/0 or 2/0 hook with enough weight for it to hold bottom. Then just wait for that familiar bump.
