Spring Flounder have Sprung!

First flounder caught in Chincoteague (or anywhere really) this year, goes to yours truly. The flounder, a solid 19 incher, was caught March 19th, about 10 days earlier than normal. Although it is still cool and the bite is overall slow, Shadrunner is all spruced up and ready to work. April still has a few open dates but now that fish are showing things will book up fast. We'll be looking for large Black Drum and Stripers out by the surf starting next week. So bundle up and get your spring break on, see you on the water. Aloha!

As the frigid north winds howl, covering the bay with ice, there is a plan for escape. This year's mission: wading the sand flats of Andros Island for bonefish. We will keep up with reports from the field. Back home, we are looking at almost two months before the flounder begin to show. Just enough time to get Shadrunner ready for another fun and sun filled summer. Hoping to see you out there, Aloha!

As hard winter settles around us, the fish have moved south to warmer waters. We are still managing to stay busy on the water (as long as it's free of ice) with clamming and oystering and even a few duck hunts with our friends at Fish Tales. Over the next few weeks any fishing will probably be in Virginia Beach, while we ready the boat for spring flounder. In 2026 we are going to hold the line against price increases, and continue to offer our popular afternoon "Family Fun Fishing" adventures at the lowest price possible.
