Trip Summary

The crappie were chewing on Chickamauga today. Thirty-two came aboard with 24 keepers; the two largest were 15 inches and qualified the anglers for Tennessee Angler Recognition Program certificates. All fish were taken power trolling crankbaits and jigs @ 1.4 mph.

The Chickamauga hits keep coming. Caught 29 black crappie (21 keepers) along with three other species today. None of the big slabs we found earlier in the week. All were caught on crankbaits pushed and pulled at 1.2 - 1.4 mph at depths of 14-16 feet. Water temperature was 81 degrees at the surface. Nearly all fish were taken before 1000 when the bite stopped abruptly.

It wasn't the Chickamauga bite marathon we had on Monday,. but was consistent until about 1000. Twenty-seven crappie were boated, with 19 keepers. Additionally, several white and yellow bass and a channel catfishewere boated. Most fish were taken on crankbaits set to run at 14-16 FOW.

A banner day of fishing crappie on Chickamauga today. The bite was steady and when we left the action had not diminished. Black Bandit 300s trolled at 12-14 foot depths over 15-20 bottoms probably caught 80% of the fish. All of the fish were released to fight another day.
