Trip Summary
October/November Fishing Report by Reel Addiction Fishing Charters, LLC
• Late October is traditionally one of the best times of the year for bull redfish (30-50+ inches) along the Pensacola Beach shoreline and around passes.
• Schools of mature reds are following migrating mullet and menhaden.
• Best locations:
o Pensacola Beach Gulf shoreline
o Pensacola Pass
o Fort Pickens area
o Gulf-side cuts and troughs created by recent storms
Best baits:
o Fresh cut mullet
o Whole or cut menhaden
o Half blue crab
o Large live mullet
o Large Paddle Tails
Hurricane Effects and Recent Storms Have:
• Reshaped sandbars and troughs
• Moved bait concentrations
• Created cleaner-water pockets that are holding fish
• Increased debris and altered currents in some areas
Before setting up, take a few minutes to watch the water and look for:
• Mullet schools
• Bird activity
• Deep cuts between sandbars
• Areas where clearer water meets stained water
What Else Is Biting Besides the Bull Reds:
• Pompano
• Spanish mackerel
• Flounder
• Occasional king mackerel around the pier and nearshore reefs
Local Angler Tip for This Week:
If you're fishing from the beach near Pensacola Beach or Navarre, get out at first light or two hours before sunset during a moving tide. Fish a large chunk of mullet, half blue crab in the deepest trough you can find, or large paddle tails in white/orange/yellow. That's been one of the most consistent setups for hooking into the fall bull red run.
Tight lines! The "running of the bulls" has started, and this is exactly the window many local anglers wait for every year, and we survived the hurricane just to get you “hooked on the action”!!!
