So far, this March has brought a lot of wind. With the high winds I have not been able to fish the Mayport Jetties or much of the St.Johns river. So far our trips have been producing plenty of redfish that we have caught along the Intracoastal Waterway in shallow creeks. These areas are great to target on the windy days because they offer us cover and calm waters. The redfish have been caught on a mixture of live shrimp, mud minnows, and fresh dead shrimp. As the weather warms up this month and hopefully the winds lay down, I plan to begin targeting big sheepshead, black drum, triple tail, redfish, and spanish mackeral. In the photo above one of our trips produced a juvenile snook! Very rare species in our area but nonetheless an exciting catch especially on a fly rod. -Capt. Jon-
