Trip Summary

This Local Tournament in Manzanillo it’s very popular and amazing! We Won the 4th place of 30 fishing boats. We sail to the fishing bank called “Corral” at 180 (degrees) from Manzanillo, Our season was 2 stripped Marlin released (small size) caught with bait (Lisa) and 1 stripped marlin on board (23 kg) caught with lure and 1 more stripped marlin hooked up on a Lure! But we loose it a while. We started at 8 a.m and finished at 5 p.m.... Was a crazy day ‘cause we caught the marlin far from the coast (20 miles) and just a hour and half from the time limit, so, once we get onboard the marlin we started to sail a whole machine to the dock, arriving 8 minutes before it finished! So exciting

We kicked off the day trolling with two live bonitas, chasing the dream of a trophy marlin. Nine miles offshore, the ocean suddenly came alive—birds dive-bombing the surface in a full-on feeding frenzy. We had a short trip inshore, looking for small fish around, after 10 minutes the lures touched the water, skipjacks started to bite, we keep a couple and release the rest (12 skipjack). Then a sailfish appear behind the small lures biting many times but not hooked. We saw a lot of dolphins, birds and turtles.

Light tackle for this trip, lookig for a mahi close to the coast, weu caught five nice mahis and lost 3 more! Lot of skipjacks around, was a great day! The best fish for dinner. Also a sailfish bite a little lure but not hooked enough.
