Despite the weather we have been getting amongst the fish when we can get out. Good size Bass with fish up to 8lbs for Terry's group on Hokkies and pirks and some nice Smoothounds and the first Whiting of the year for Florins group today on live prawns, lugworm and Mackerel baits. Prospects look good with the winter species, Cod, Skate and Whiting arriving while the Bass are still around. Well done today for Florins group who kept fishing despite the heavy rain showers. A good mixed bag aboard HUSSLER of Ramsgate today with Bass, Hounds, Mackerel and a lonely Plaice for Davids group. The sun shone and the water cleared giving us a day afloat that would be good in mid summer. As the water begins to cool we will be seeing more Whiting and Skate in the catches along with a chance of a Cod. Dates including weekends available if you fancy a trip ? Florins group of hardened anglers extended their fishing trip aboard HUSSLER and straight outside the harbour we were into School Bass and Mackerel some of the action was so close to the shore we were worried about grounding the boat. The rest of the day was more Mackerel and a handful of Smoothounds that couldn't resist our live prawns. Unusual catches were a small Cuttlefish and a small Bull Huss. With the water still warm we can expect the Bass and Hounds to stay around into November along with Whiting and a return of the Thornback Ray that have been absent probably due to the high water temperatures. Plenty of dates available if you fancy a trip.
