Trip Summary
Trip Summary
The Sockeye salmon have arrived in force. We are catching lots of fish and they are as strong and fresh as can be. Great weather and a strong run of fish combined to give us the perfect conditions for a most memorable trip on July 13. The day started with a crossing on Skliak lake in picturesque conditions. We were welcomed to the Middle Kenai by several loons and lots of eagles crossed our path throughout the day.
As great as the scenery was the fishing was even better. We were on fish right away in the morning and had lots of action all day. Everyone caught their limit of Sockeye on the swung fly and fought many more. This years fish are running 8-10lbs of pure fight. The fun has just begun because these fish will keep coming for the next three weeks and with 50,000 salmon a day swimming up river the time to come fishing couldn't be better!
