Trip Summary
Today’s guest caught quite some muskie back in the States, but never a Northern pike. So his parents were so kind to hire me for the ultimate test: Muskie VS Northern Pike. Well, one thing that was made clear is that Northern pike is much easier to catch than his American cousin Muskie (or is it Musky?). Some spots produced multiple fish, and that was very rare for Muskie. Another difference is that the famous ‘Figure Eight’ is pretty much a waste of time for pike, mainly because the pike are much less hesitant than Muskie. That means that they will either take the bait as soon as they see it, or just leave it, while muskie tend to follow the bait all the way to the boat. In terms of power, our guest thought that both are quite similar. Thanks for this interesting insight in the world of Muskie!
Ps: one other difference is that you will NEVER catch such a big perch while fishing for muskie: what a WHOPPER ;-)
