Trip Summary
We're getting into our best season of the year here in Fort Lauderdale and the mahi-mahi are beginning to show up. This is the time of year when mahi-mahi come through our waters to mate and we catch them often during the next 2-3 months. Recently, we've been finding the mahi in on the reefs, in only 100-200ft of water. Mixed in with them have been blackfin tunas, a rare wahoo or sailfish and also kingfish and bonitos. Good action for us out there recently. The cooler temperatures and stronger winds make ideal conditions to go after and find sailfish, one of our biggest and coolest gamefish species. Wrecks deserve an honorable mention too as this is the season when the big amberjacks and cobia move in. You can catch some pretty big fish sometimes while dropping live baits around a shipwreck. Fishing improves almost every day from not till the peak in early April, so get out there and let's go fishing!
