CATCHING VARIETIES ON HALF DAYS
September 15, 2024 Gulf Shores 2 photos

Trip Summary

With Red Snapper closed in federal waters, we are still catching a lot of other varieties of fish on the half day trips. The vermilion snapper are biting like crazy. Just in today's 2 trips we caught vermilion, mangrove snapper, lane snapper, trigger fish and a unicorn filefish. On the trolling for the 5 hour, the Spanish Mackerel are biting really well further offshore and the big kings are moving in. We had a 40+ pound barracuda come all the way out the water biting a big Spanish in half. On the 6 hour, we had a lot of action all around and lost a huge Amberjack on the end of the trip. If you're wanting to catch Amberjack, I highly recommend asking us about the 8 hour trip or longer. The 6 hours are getting tougher to catch them but it's still possible.
