Due to poor weather, Shawry had a backup plan, we went straight out first thing to try and catch something before the wind came, and hooked a good size cod. We then headed south to another spot, pushing against the swell, Shawry made sure the ride was as smooth as possible. After battling the swell for about an hour, we headed back before the wind got too bad. We the hit a couple of spots where we got some mangrove jacks and other species. Shawry had set crab pots previously and we picked up 8 good size crabs OT of his pots which was a real treat. All in all great charter considering the poor conditions

We highly recommend this charter. Captain Shawry was excellent. He helped our very novice family to catch a huge number of fish. We caught enough to have a very filling fish dinner that evening and my 9 year old son even reeled in a shark, which Iโm sure he will never forget. Shawry was excellent, keeping our hooks baited, and helping the kids, teaching them how to fish. He was able to teach the kids about the fish we reeled in and especially about the shark. His boat was immaculately clean and of the 4 hour charter there was only a short time travelling and plenty of time fishing. Leaving the jetty at 7 I had reeled in the first fish, a barracuda! before 7:30.
We will absolutely be booking another trip with Shawry next tome we come to Port Douglas.

We were in Port Douglas for a family function, managed to sneak away for a boys outing and very glad we booked with Hook Up Fishing Charters. Not an experienced group but the captain was very helpful, great boat and knowledge. Even with our lack of experience, all had an awesome day and we managed to go home with a beautiful feed (including a few coral trout). Captain Shaw was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable on the area as well as the fish. Never skimped on the bait and was quick to make sure your line was loaded up and you were fishing. Friendly and patient with me as a newby and could easily switch on a dime to my partners more experienced level. Caught some delicious fish that we took with us for dinner.
