Paul was knowledgeable and knew the area well but we fished in very cold conditions and spent no time looking for warmer water. This failure to adapt to the conditions was disappointing and I realized the seriousness of this miscalculation when we finally approached the mouth of the gulf 2 1/2 hours into the trip where the water was 5 degrees warmer and got a few bites. Disappointing trip.
We offered the customer another day as an option with warmer weather. This was done in writing via the messaging Fishbooker app and during phonecalls repeatedly but he decided that he wanted to go and still try that cold day (temperature in 40s/50s) since another guest with him had no other time available and they thought they might get lucky cause they were catching fish here in a lake they told the captain. I could have stepped in and just cancel but then everybody would feel that it was canceled unfairly last minute so i left it.ย I am the office and take care of policies or other issues while Capt. Paul focuses mainly on fishing. Capt. Paul was trying to be nice as this is his nature and accomodate the guests wishes and dates despite the bad weather. But this review is imo really unfair since the Captain even added some time for no extra cost. Also the trip was only purchased as a 3 hour trip and to go to open waters the drivetime is long for this you would need a longer trip which would be 6 hours. Despite this the captain tried to please the customers and drove into deeper waters (which were a few degrees warmer) but which took time. They managed to catch a few keepers there and the customer was send home with a catch. Instead of being happy we got actually this review, no tip etc. The expectations of this customer were unrealistic and he refused to listen to the captain who knows the waters here. Please listen to the captain if he recommends something! Obviously he is not going to force a guest but simply suggest. To avoid any of this in the future i will cancel trips due to weather if we believe it is too cold for the fish to bite vigorously. So cancellation due to weather are of course storms but now also strong cold fronts ( depends on actual temperature) which i will put into our policy ...and again please donโt blame the captain for the weather if he told you honestly about the weather and the chance of fish biting and you made the decision to still go. There was also the possibility to cancel at any time. We gladly refund the pro rated part of the money of unused time if anytime during the charter it is realized or believed that it is a bad day for fishing due to a cold front or other weather conditions.

Thanks for the review.
The charter operator canceled 2 days prior to the trip date. This is an automated posting.
