Thank you for your review of 4 stars. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your fishing trip! A positive fishing experience is something I take great pride in, so I am really glad yall enjoyed. I canโt wait to take you all out again in the future.
The trip was okay. From the beginning it seemed awkward. I understand there is a lull at times while fishing but to do very little to entertain while this is happening, well, itโs kind of what the job entails. If this is your hobby, I get not wanting that responsibility but this is Destin and thatโs the business. We got to our spot, a stones throw away from where we started, and dropped anchor and line for sharks. Gave out 1 rod for a group of 5 to drop, not cast, for potentially other fish. We caught catfish, thats it. After a while, he even climbed on the top of the boat and had 1 of our members help release and bait the hook. To catch a catfish while going out on a boat in the ocean was underwhelming. My 9 yr old enjoyed it a lot, for that I am very grateful. The others in my group, we can catch catfish just about anywhere in Kansas and Arkansas. One of my group and the captain got along great, the one who released and baited. They talked about boats and such but it seemed the conversation was more instigated by the party member than the captain. At one point I had brought up potentially lure fishing or using something else while waiting on a possible shark. The response was along the lines of having issues in the past, heโd rather not due to i higher risk of someone getting hooked. No drinking, informed the captain that we trout fish and catfish regularly and he doesnโt want to risk anyone being hooked. WE ARE FISHING! That comes with the territory. I wonder if that rule applies to all his trips or just us. I know the captain canโt guarantee a catch or what fish would bite but I do know when I take my family fishing, my tackle is loaded for more than just 1 or 2 kinds of fish. I change bait and tactics to get whatever I can to bite for a more enjoyable experience. If you want a leisurely short ride to drop anchor and line with the potential of having an exciting fight with a shark,(I wish this would have happened for us), then this is for you. We didnโt have to worry about getting burnt by the sun(5-8pm) and it was a very beautiful afternoon. I really wish that I could give a raving review but I canโt. We would have been so much happier to have caught something other than a common fish, the catfish. A little advice; check the distance you go out, get a picture of the boat (room to move/fish) and be extremely detailed to the captain on what kind of experience you want. Apparently my description wasnโt good enough or maybe he would have recommended another trip, maybe.

Thank you for your candid review. I apologize that you did not enjoy your shark trip with us as I did try to entertain while we were having a slow bite. I do not have all 6 people fishing while going for a shark so I do apologize for that. We hope you have a better experience in the future.
Even with weather conditions not being ideal ย Captain Taylor was able to put us on the fish. The wind put a damper on things a bit but we still caught kings and Spanish mackerel. Along with red fish and snappers. 2 day trip and both days were a blast. Highly recommend captain Taylor and Get the Gaf charter. Very knowledgeable with good equipment, along with keeping our lines in the water at all times. We will be booking with him again next year. Thank you again Taylor for making our trip great. You did not dissapoint.
